Artist’s Biography

Lidechsi Silva (b. 1996) is an interdisciplinary artist working between Montréal, Québec and Colombo, Sri Lanka. Born in Colombo, she moved to Montréal to pursue a Bachelor's of Fine Arts at Concordia University. Her practice is rooted in drawing, working primarily with ink, charcoal, and graphite, and extends into sculpture and photography.

Drawing from cinema, the natural world, and an instinctive pull toward understanding the human condition, her work navigates themes of power and vulnerability—subjects she revisits as a means of mapping and making sense of her own emotional landscape. Animals function as symbolic presences throughout: predatory animals embody raw force and dominance, while dogs and horses recur as figures of loyalty, instinct, and surrender. Her richly layered compositions don't resolve tension but preserve it, asking viewers to inhabit the discomfort alongside her.
